This is why I avoid “concerts”…

Two $32 tickets end up costing $90 after all the taxes and “convenience” fees. I tell ya what is convenient, when a face value of something is what you actually pay!!

I’m referring to the tickets I bought to see Breaking Benjamin (with Three Days Grace, Red, Skillet…). It’s not that I mind paying to see bands. Not at all and quite the contrary. I just cannot stand giving all that extra money to greedy conglomerates like TicketMaster!! In the case of this ticket purchase, $26 is going to entities other than the band…and that is not considering the actual ticket!! Lord knows what other weasels pick the meat off the profit of the actual ticket sales before the band sees any money!!

I much prefer small venues. Where when a ticket costs $15, you hand the door man a twenty and get a Lincoln in return! And, I have it on good authority that in these scenarios, the band gets a substantial portion of the actual ticket sales, or “the door”.

Yes. I do loathe the way concerts are handled these days. So after this show, the only major concert I plan to see in 2007 is Bjork. Yes. I said Bjork. I’m quite eager to see MANY shows though. I’m particularly excited about seeing The Devil Wears Prada!!!
