Look at all these Tweets from 2007-10-03

  • Watching my latest Netflix rental – newly released "EviI Aliens" #
  • HAHA! Evil Aliens, while crude and vulgar at times, was just a flat out blasty blast! "A bloody close encounter" – genius. #
  • @blondski Your tweet just did it for me! High-five! #
  • Our insurance at work is seriously sucking left-hind tit. I loathe thee, American healthcare. #
  • Sadly, as I was choking on a Frito, I couldn’t help but wonder how much that Frito could potentially cost me. #

I love creative bands!

So I just read a MySpace bulletin post from one of the members of Underoath, which led me to the discovery of their new project; Underoath Movie. They’re trying to break the current mold of cookie-cutter band-umentaries, and by doing so, really stretch the creativity of the whole approach.

I’m stoked about this. Not only because I dig the band, or filmmaking, but because I love seeing bands break out of the confines of industry standards. Music over the past few decades has become so commercialized and the creativity of many bands is traded in for the promise of fame and fortune. Unfortunately for most of these bands, both of these treasures tend to be very temporary.

But, here’s a band of Christians that have stormed the mainstream, and like it or not, God is present in their lives and music. And for Him to be using this band to reach a lost generation is awesome, but now He’s using them to push the envelope of the industry. Now, THAT is just flat-out amazing!

Not to mention that they’re using the Panasonic HVX200 and Redrock lens adapter. Sheer beauty! Here’s a sample they’ve released to the public.

Meanwhile, there’s another awesome band championing yet another industry-flipping experiment. Radiohead. I love what these guys are doing – not to mention their amazing music! Instead of rehashing the blog I read this news from, I’ll link you to it here. Go check it out, and thank our man, Ken, for sharing it!

Just when I’d about given up on the music industry, a couple of pioneers emerge. I’m excited to see what unfolds!
