What genealogical oddity was the mold for Apple’s iPod ear bud design?

Whose head do these things properly fit in?

I almost can’t listen and chew gum at the same time.  It’s time to modify mine with better fitting ear buds or just muster up the cash for the V Moda Vibe Duo iPhone ear bud set.  So, $30 for a pair of ear buds just to Frankenstein, or $100 for an already compatible and far superior pair.  Choices.

Thankfully it’s supposed to start getting cooler again (mid-December, yea) and I can wear a beanie – at least that holds them in my ears, haha.
