Exodus 12:11 (ESV)
“In this manner you shall eat it: with your belt fastened, your sandals on your feet, and your staff in your hand. And you shall eat it in haste. It is the LORD’s Passover.”
This passage of Scripture jumped out at me in recent reading. It is one of a, seemingly infinite, number of amazing Old Testament/New Testament parallels that are found upon truly reading the Bible.
The Passover feast was a precisely (as in, God gave the directions) prepared, unblemished lamb. And God tells Moses that the Israelites are to not only prepare this lamb a particular way, but eat it dressed in a particular manner. As you can see, there was a sense of readiness and urgency to how this meal should be taken.
In this case, this is so that the people show faith in God that he will deliver them from Egypt. And He did.
And then there’s Jesus.
An unblemished lamb. Broken and prepared as a sacrifice in a very specific way.
And He says that we are to eat of His flesh and drink of His blood.
And He promises us life to the full.
The question is: Are you eating with your Chucks laced and ready to step out with faith in His promise?
