Mind you, this comes from the guy who told his congregation, from the pulpit, that he’s gonna “piss standing up” wherever he goes.
I’m amazed that people will preach second hand stories as truth from the pulpit. Amazed. And saddened.
These people want to lead people to Jesus – yet they mock their own brethren. Who would follow a condescending and judgmental group of people like that?
And NEWS FLASH – The King James isn’t even the first, nor is it the authoritative, English translation of the Bible. In fact, dare I say, if you can’t read Hebrew or Greek, you shouldn’t hold ANY translation of the Bible above another.
Amazing the rules and addendums people add to the teachings of Jesus. Amazing…and sad.
It’d be great if 98% of the Christians spouting about from the pulpit about love would actually start practicing it. Hell, I think we could change the world if a mere 10% would shut up about what others should be doing and just start doing.
Remember that Jesus will say, “Well done…” and not “Well said…”

I really love how people mis-interpet rock hands as satanic symbols
What about the point that he is making about the satanic symbols? Does he have a point or not?
If his point is that he doesn’t know what he’s talking about, then yes. He has a point.
As an ex-member of the Church of Satan (card carrying, dues paid member) the notion of Satanic hand signs is a church-created fallacy used to scare kids away from listening to rock music. A belief otherwise is ill-informed and laughable.
Interesting…
Who is he to? As a member of NewSpring (yes, one word, one wonderful church), he obviously has no idea the context within which any of his judgements are based. With a congregation of thousands of saved young people, we are apparently doing something right and would never condescend another church for making every effort they could as well. God Bless!
Thanks for the post DJ… the dude is a total judgmental wack job. I hate it when people make a call about what it is your church stands for and what you believe without actually experiencing it themselves. Hilarious that he says the theme for the ‘year’ is crank it up! No concept of teaching series or how to be effective like Jesus was at using culture to reach those around him. Anyway, funny but very sad that there are people like this out there.
Thanks for you guys at NewSpring… Perry, Lee and the teams there for inspiring others with boldness and creativity in reaching the lost for Christ.
So….We’re talking about love at the end, but what about the love for fellow Christians? He references Paul’s letter to Timothy, but I believe Paul also wrote that we should minister to the Romans like a Roman, and the Greeks like the Greeks, so that some may be saved.
By the way, How does he know the tune to the Bon Jovi song? I guess God told him about it.
I have been to Newspring, and I have heard the gospel there. I also saw bikers who would never come to most churches, who also heard the gospel there.
Let’s pray for Perry Noble and Newspring instead of trying to tear it down.
AMEN!
I love my church and if it weren’t for my church, 8000 or more people probably wouldn’t be hearing the gospel every Sunday – myself included!
Hey DJ, thanks for explaining the hand signs. It does get ‘mis-interpreted,’ as John said.
i go to newspring..thats right, one word..and i LOVE it! Perry and everyone at newspring love Jesus and are absolutely passionate about helping people that live in THIS century understand who He was and why He came to earth. i have so say that i have never in my life heard such an asinine comment as referring to the NIV translation with a condescending tone like that! perhaps this misguided man should spend more time figuring out who Jesus was and how he actually loved EVERYONE and not so much time slandering an incredible man of God from behind the pulpit and calling it a sermon.
Wow. Here’s the thing: An “old-fashioned church service” is going to attract one kind of people: old-fashioned. What about winning the young people? The people who have never — and WOULD NEVER — step into a church? Is this guy really about saving souls or just LOOKING like he’s saving souls? Because it seems to me he’s more concerned with tradition than he is with actual ministry. I’ve never been to NewSpring but I’m a member of a church that’s also denounced by a lot of people like this because it’s “different” and simultaneously very successful. Well, what we’re doing works and we’re making more impact on the world than closed-minded individuals like this could ever dream to.
I’m saddened to think that this pastor is more concerned about how church should conduct their worship services. I recently attended a conference at Newspring and it was a great experience. This church is incredible and are reaching an awesome amount of people to Christ. After all that is what we are commanded to do by Jesus himself. Jesus did not set rules and guidelines on how to do it, he said do it. When you stop and think that this church started with 33 families and have expanded to 8,000 in membership in a very short time…well, God is Good and he is doing great things at Newspring and elsewhere.
