2008 Book Journal – Update

I decided in mid-February that I didn’t read enough and that had to change. Here’s a list of what I’ve read so far in 2008. I’ll update this each time I finish a new book.

  1. Crowded Skies: Letters to Manhattan – Tara Leigh Cobble
  2. Blue Like Jazz – Donald Miller
  3. Cows – Matthew Stokoe
  4. The Screwtape Letters – C.S. Lewis
  5. House of Leaves – Mark Z. Danielewski (3/21)
  6. Outer Dark – Cormac McCarthy (3/22)
  7. A Dozen Black Roses – Nancy A. Collins (3/25)
  8. Sunset and Sawdust – Joe R. Lansdale (3/30)
  9. The Wasp Factory – Iain Banks (4/10)

The Wasp Factory was a really short book that took (me) too long to read.  It’s only 184 pages, but it was so hard to get into.  In the end, I was ultimately let down by it; especially being that it’s considered one of the “100 Top Novels of the Century.“  I chose this book because in reading up on COWS by Matthew Stokoe, many people compared the two.  I’m still not figuring out the correlation.

I’m very excited to be starting a Faulkner novel soon.  The book my friend Lauren wants me to read isn’t released yet.  Ironically, the Faulker novel I’m about to read was her first choice.  :)   After that, it’s another Cormac McCarthy novel.

Books on my radar:  The Lovely Bones, Behold a Pale Horse, Do Androids Dream of Electric SleepLaughter in the Dark, and V.
