I decided in mid-February that I didn’t read enough and that had to change. Here’s a list of what I’ve read so far in 2008. I’ll update this each time I finish a new book.
- Crowded Skies: Letters to Manhattan – Tara Leigh Cobble
- Blue Like Jazz – Donald Miller
- Cows – Matthew Stokoe
- The Screwtape Letters – C.S. Lewis
- House of Leaves – Mark Z. Danielewski (3/21)
- Outer Dark – Cormac McCarthy (3/22)
- A Dozen Black Roses – Nancy A. Collins (3/25)
- Sunset and Sawdust – Joe R. Lansdale (3/30)
- The Wasp Factory – Iain Banks (4/10)
The Wasp Factory was a really short book that took (me) too long to read. It’s only 184 pages, but it was so hard to get into. In the end, I was ultimately let down by it; especially being that it’s considered one of the “100 Top Novels of the Century.“ I chose this book because in reading up on COWS by Matthew Stokoe, many people compared the two. I’m still not figuring out the correlation.
I’m very excited to be starting a Faulkner novel soon. The book my friend Lauren wants me to read isn’t released yet. Ironically, the Faulker novel I’m about to read was her first choice.
After that, it’s another Cormac McCarthy novel.
Books on my radar: The Lovely Bones, Behold a Pale Horse, Do Androids Dream of Electric Sleep, Laughter in the Dark, and V.
