“It is always the simple things that change our lives. And these things never happen when you are looking for them to happen. Life will reveal answers at the pace life wishes to do so. You feel like running, but life is on a stroll. This is how God does things.“
-Donald Miller
I really think Miller is on to something here, and I certainly needed this reminder. Perhaps I’m stretching here, but maybe we even see evidence of this in the very first book of the Bible.
“And they heard the sound of the LORD God walking in the garden in the cool of the day…”
-Genesis 3:8 (ESV)
That leads me to believe God enjoys His walks. His slow stroll. I can almost imagine the peace about Him, strolling along with the warmth of the sun about Him, the cool wind passing by. And we, in our finite circumstantial needs, clamor on and disrupt His peaceful stroll. We impose upon Him, what He already knows, and we demand hurried results.
It’d be nice to strive for a life that doesn’t disrupt God’s stroll through the garden in the cool of the day.
